3 Mentors Everyone Needs

No one escapes poverty, grows in faith, or becomes a better version of themselves alone. Whether you're trying to change your life, break generational cycles, or simply grow into your God-given potential—mentorship matters. In fact, I believe there are three types of mentors every person needs: spiritual, professional, and personal.

1. A Spiritual Mentor
We all need someone who keeps us grounded in truth. A spiritual mentor doesn’t have to be a pastor or Bible scholar—just someone who walks with Jesus and can help you do the same. They ask hard questions, remind you of God's promises, and point you back to Scripture when life gets confusing. Proverbs 27:17 says, "Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend." Your faith can’t grow in isolation.

2. A Professional Mentor
Whether you're climbing a corporate ladder, building a business, or learning a trade, a professional mentor is someone who's been where you want to go. They can show you the shortcuts, help you avoid mistakes, and open doors that you may not have known existed. You don’t have to figure out your calling alone—God often places others in our path to guide us toward it.

3. A Personal Mentor
This is someone who knows your story, understands your struggles, and walks with you through real-life battles. They might help you with parenting, finances, addiction recovery, or relationships. They don’t mentor from a stage—they show up, check in, and speak truth into your life when you need it most.

You don’t need perfect mentors—just available ones. And if you can’t find one in every category right now, start by being one. You never know who’s watching your example.

Let’s keep building each other up—on purpose.

In Jesus’ name,
